Flow Cytometry Technologist (F/T)

POSITION SUMMARY
The Flow Cytometry Technologist works under supervision of the Flow Cytometry Supervisor and is responsible for clinical flow cytometry testing with a focus on leukemia/lymphoma immunophenotyping. A high level of technical knowledge and application of that knowledge to testing, clinical relevance, and complex problem-solving skills is required along with ASCP Certificate as a Laboratory Scientist. $5,000 signing bonus offered.

JOB DESCRIPTION
• Completes all aspects of leukemia-lymphoma immunophenotyping, including sample preparation, staining, acquisition, and data analysis using established protocols
• Demonstrates knowledge and application of theory and clinical relevance of Flow Cytometry with the ability to identify abnormal cell populations, understands general immunophenotypic results, and knows how to proceed in variant situations
• Recognize and take appropriate action in response to critical or unexpected results and communicate effectively with Pathologists
• Assists with the development, optimization, and validation of new tests as requested by the Flow Supervisor
• Performs all duties at a high level of competency and actively participates in problem solving using advanced level of decision-making skills
• Demonstrates knowledge and application of computer systems used in Flow Cytometry analysis
• Determines the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established guidelines
• Accurately performs cell counts and make dilutions to ensure optimal staining
• Prepares reagent stock, antibody cocktails, and working solutions
• Monitors proper use and consumption of reagents, materials and consumables
• Assists in cleaning and maintenance of lab equipment
• Prepares stains on peripheral blood smears, bone marrow aspirates (Wright Stain, iron, enzyme cytochemistry) as needed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Chemical/Physical/Biological Science with a minimum experience in Hematology, Immunology, or Flow Cytometry
• MLS(ASCP) certification or certification eligible
• Experience in Hematology or Immunology
• Ability to demonstrate initiative and a team-oriented mindset
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
